Glutaraldehyde-based products are effective sterilants and disinfectants for medical devices that cannot sterilized by steam. It is an organic compound used to sterilize equipment in the medical industry.  As a cold sterilizer it is commonly used as a 2%-4% aqueous solution. It’s a colorless liquid with a pungent odor. It’s highly soluble in water and also soluble in ethanol acetone and other organic solvent.

Its density is 1.06 g/cm3 at 25 degree Celsius.

Its boiling point is above 185°C and its melting point is -14°C. 

• pH

The pH of Glutaraldehyde is between 3.1 to 4.5 in aqueous solution.
